The major focus of the role is providing comprehensive administrative support for our eight Councillors and their committees, including liaison with residents and with both City and County Councils who provide the majority of our services to residents. As the Responsible Financial Officer, you will manage all the administration of the Parish Council’s finances and financial records, including liaising with the independent auditors. You will also run the Council’s website.
You should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; the ability to understand and interpret local government law; financial accounting experience; plus a willingness to develop the role – our Parish Council has ambitions to increase its engagement with residents. Experience of servicing committees is essential and facility in Microsoft Office (ideally including TEAMS data management) is desirable.
Ideally you will hold the CiLCA qualification or be prepared to work towards achieving that; starting salary will depend on qualifications and relevant experience, in the range LC2 SCP 24 – 28 £28,672 – £32,234, pro rata.
Short-listed candidates will be asked to complete a formal application form, including details of referees, although these will only be contacted after an offer of employment has been made and accepted. These candidates will also be given the opportunity of asking questions by telephone.
Applicants will be invited to attend a panel interview in the week commencing 24th May and the successful candidate will be invited to attend the full Parish Council meeting on Monday 7th June, ideally taking up the appointment by 1st July.
To apply, please send the current Clerk your CV with a covering letter explaining why this appointment interests you and what you believe you can contribute to the smooth working of the Parish Council; the closing date for applications is 6pm on Friday 7th May.
Further particulars are attached.
